Operational Challenge
Extreme radiant heat in the rolling mill area exceeding 150°C combined with abrasive steel mill scale caused standard polyurethane seals to harden, embrittle, and fail within weeks.
Engineered Solution
Fabrication of large-bore Ø250mm hydraulic cylinders featuring heavy-duty flange mountings, brass metal scraper wipers for mill scale rejection, and high-temp Viton (FKM) seals with PTFE-Bronze guide rings rated up to 200°C.
Outcome & Quality Assurance
Stable cylinder operation across hot steel ingot handling cycles with zero fluid leakage, extending the overhaul interval from 1 month to over 12 months.
